YAKISHIME: Earth Metamorphosis

The Consulate-General of Japan in Bengaluru and the Japan Foundation will jointly host the exhibition “Yakishime: Earth Metamorphosis” at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath from October 18 to October 26, 2025

Focusing on “Yakishime” (hard-fired, unglazed pottery), the most primordial ceramic production technique, uniquely developed in Japan, this exhibition introduces a facet of Japanese culture, by displaying Yakishime from the time of its establishment, to present day Yakishime. Through this travelling exhibition, we hope you will learn about diverse aspects of Japanese culture and appreciate its creativity.
